Excel Stage: Players Performance
Development–Level 4

Ages 12 to 18 years (boys & girls)

Excel Stage courses offer initial steps into the area of advanced performance preparation and training for competitive juniors. Each young competitor is tested in their desire to prepare properly for competition. If a junior golfer enrolls in all four PPD classes, the total enrollment cost is $1,000.

College Recruitment Prep Course

There are many athletic scholarships available to high school athletes; however, there are correct ways to reach out to the colleges of choice and the golf coaches. This class will meet for four, 60-minute sessions, and introduce junior golfers and their parents to the “Do’s and Don’ts” of college recruitment. Learn what college coaches mainly use to identify potential in a player, and understand some of the basic NCAA rules that must be adhered to. Parents are encouraged to attend the first meeting.

Confidence Building and Golf Development Coaching

Michael Riggs, M Ed. Sports Psych, offers an initial profile test at the Cantigny Golf Academy for each junior golfer. Test results will be discussed individually, and three additional 30-minute weekly individual coaching calls will follow. All post-test phone calls and times are pre-arranged on the day of the initial testing.

Golf-Specific Fitness Training and Program Design

Dr. Paul Callaway offers an initial group 90-minute golf-specific physical assessment of each junior golfer, followed by three 60-minute weekly group sessions.

Analyzing a Tournament Course–Course Management and Yardage Book Preparation

An in-depth perspective of how Tour players and their caddies review a golf course. The class will meet for three, 120-minute sessions and introduce the juniors to what specific areas of a course to focus on, how to chart the putting greens, and discussions about when and where to play aggressive versus playing conservative. Each class session will spend time in the classroom and on the golf course.
