Junior golfers who want to play without adult supervision need to get certified. Here’s how…

Juniors Program Level 1 (Certification)

This program is designed for the beginning golfer at least 8 years old. No course experience is required. Level 1 clinics prepare juniors for certification testing and on-course evaluation for unaccompanied (without adult supervision) play at the Cantigny Youth Links. Certification clinics meet for five, 90-minute sessions and introduce juniors to the basics in full swing, chipping and putting. Juniors are also introduced to safety and etiquette requirements. The fifth and final meeting will be an on-course evaluation and an exam on safety and etiquette. Juniors must meet minimum requirements to become certified. Customized Program Available

If the dates of our scheduled Level 1 Program conflict with your summer plans, contact us for a customized junior series. Levels 1-3 consists of 3 to 6 juniors. Juniors may form their own class or be grouped with 3 to 6 other juniors. Classes meet for five, 60-minute sessions and start after June. Call 630 260 8199 to learn more.

How to Bypass the Level 1 Clinic

Junior golfers with previous clinic or private instruction experience from a PGA Professional are eligible to bypass the Level 1 clinic. To gain unsupervised playing privileges, the junior must successfully complete the certification testing.

Testing dates are available to Juniors on Wednesday evenings, after the last tee time. Testing involves a written quiz and a two-hole on-course evaluation, focusing on safety, awareness of basic rules and course etiquette.

To obtain certification, the following is required:

  • The junior must be at least 8 years old
  • Recommendation from the PGA Professional who provided instruction
  • Advance sign up for one of the testing dates
  • $10 fee on the testing date
