Cantigny's Re-energized Commitment to Family Golf

June 8-10, 2012

Join us for a very special weekend at Cantigny Golf. We encourage you to bring the whole family, including beginners and non-golfers.

The weekend will include special rates for golf, free clinics, and our Parent/Junior Golf & Grill on Sunday, June 10.

Perhaps most important, Cantigny will be introducing new opportunities for golfers of all skill levels to enjoy playing the course (read more about these programs on pages 2 and 3). Details of the weekend can be downloaded by clicking here (PDF).

Friday Evening
League Begins May 4

The league is filling up fast but it's not too late to sign up. Build camaraderie with other Cantigny regulars in this casually-formatted league.

Quote of the Month

I owe a lot to my parents. Especially my mother and father.

Greg Norman

"Golf… The Game of a Lifetime." I've always loved this slogan, which Cantigny developed for our Youth Links course upon its opening in 1998. This is not just a message for juniors, however, it applies to people of all ages, golfers and non-golfers alike.

This is why the professional staff at Cantigny is refocusing its efforts on bringing new people to the game. And what better place to start than with the family! We are introducing new programs and affordable opportunities for anyone to enjoy this wonderful game. These programs will be highlighted at our Family Golf Weekend, June 8-10.

By my way of thinking there are two types of people: golfers—and those yet to discover the game of golf. One of the great obstacles I've found with many of my friends who don't play golf is the intimidation factor. A lot of people just don't feel they could be good enough to play the game.

This is how I felt about skiing. I tried it once in high school with disastrous results. But in the last couple of years my children have taken an interest in the sport so my wife and I have followed suit. While I

don't fancy myself ever becoming a double-black diamond expert (a reality driven home by three giggling teenage girls observing one of my more spectacular falls), I have developed great appreciation for the beauty and challenge of skiing. This is thanks in large part to the process of progression, starting at the "bunny hill." I'll enjoy skiing every time because I can choose the hills that match my skill level, and eventually take on bigger challenges.

At Cantigny Golf, we are taking the same approach. Start small and work your way up. Most of this month's newsletter is focused on family and new opportunities at Cantigny to bring golfers to the game, including the Family Course Program (page 2) and Evening 4-Hole Play option (page 3).
Bring your family to Cantigny and you’ll soon recognize why golf is rightfully referred to as "The Game of a Lifetime."
